About Us

The medical staff of the Atlantic Vein Clinics is determined to ensure the most professional care and safety to all of our patients.

Dr. Alexander Matz - the founder of our centre - is a general surgeon specializing in minimally invasive procedures.

Being a General Surgeon, he successfully treats different variety of varicose and "spider" veins by a combination of non-invasive techniques such as Endovenous Laser Therapy and Sclerotherapy, with minimally invasive surgical procedures such as Mini-Phlebectomy.

Dr. Matz has been certified by the Royal College of the Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

He holds Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and also is a member of the American College of Phlebology, International Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and Canadian Association of General Surgeons.

Dr. Matz has been practicing in Nova Scotia since 2001 and has an extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery and phlebology. Besides a busy vein practice, he is holding privileges as general and advanced laparoscopic surgeon in the Western Regional Health Centre in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

Our experience was published and presented at various Provincial, National and International Surgical meetings, including the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons in New York in 2004 and The XXXV Congress of The International College of Surgeons in Pattaya, Thailand in 2006.
